Obituary of Cordie Burleson Thomas

Funeral services for Cordie Burleson Thomas, 89, Leverett's Chapel, will be held at 3:00 p.m. Thursday, January 17, in the Cottle-Pearson Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Mark Hendricks officiating. Private burial will be in the Overton City Cemetery. Mrs. Thomas died Monday, January 14, 2008 in a Longview health care center. She was born January 1, 1919 in Rusk County to the late Charlie Cleveland and Rutha Grindle Still. She was a life long resident in the Overton area and a homemaker. She worked at Sunshine Nursing Home as a sitter and she held her faith as a believer in the Lord Jesus Christ as her savior. Mrs. Thomas was a good mother and grandmother and loved her kids and she had a great sense of humor. She will be missed deeply by all her family. She was preceded in death by her husband, J.B. Burleson, a son, William Burleson, two daughters, Shirley Wooley and Mary Craig, three brothers, Pat B. Still, Cleveland Still, and W. R. Still; three sisters, Mamie Owen, Grace Fleming, and Cora Lee Hughes. Survivors include four sons and three daughters-in-law, Jack and Charlene Burleson of Leverett's Chapel, Johnny Mac Burleson of Tyler, Joe and Cheryl Burleson of Longview, and Roger Lynn Burleson and Vickie Burleson of Hallsville; a sister, Mary Agnes 'Birdie' Jones of Henderson; 18 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren; seven great-great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
