Obituary of Delight Hamilton

Services for Delight Hamilton, 94, Troup, are scheduled for 2:00 pm, Friday, November 2 in the Cottle Funeral Home Chapel, Troup, with Reverend Leon Batchelor officiating. Interment will be in Pinecrest Cemetery, Troup. Mrs. Hamilton died Tuesday, October 30, 2012, in a Kilgore nursing home. She was born September 2, 1918, in Cherokee County to the late Finis and Helen Brewer Ledford. She was a lifetime resident of East Texas and a member of Concord Cumberland Presbyterian Church, Concord Community near Troup. She was employed for 17 years by the Gulf States Telephone Company. She had owned and operated Delight's Greenhouses for over 40 years.  She married Russell Hamilton in 1937 and he preceded her in death in 1985. She was also preceded in death by her parents; three grandchildren, Mike Hamilton, Stephen Craig Hamilton, and Jana René Hamilton; a brother, Marquell Ledford; and three sisters, Melba Wilson, Doris Kee, and Opal Childress. Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Eudell and Donna Hamilton of Troup, and Don and Inez Hamilton of Arp; a daughter and son-in-law, Cheryl and Bill Riley of Kilgore; five grandchildren, Lana Carol Oliver, Donnie Hamilton, Shelley Sadler, Kimberly Brown, and Mandie Young; numerous great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. The Family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm, Thursday, November 1.
