Obituary of William ‘Bill’ Stout
Services for William "Bill" Stout, 84, Troup, are scheduled for 2:00 pm, Sunday, October 7, at the Cottle Funeral Home chapel, Troup, with Reverend Jerry Hawbaker officiating. Burial will be in Pinecrest Cemetery, Troup.
Mr. Stout died Thursday, October 4, 2012, at his residence. He was born January 27, 1928 in Perry, Oklahoma to the late Lester and Nan Elrod Stout.
He has served in the U.S. Coast Guard.
He started to work for Sun Oil at the age of 15 and became a supervisor, working many places in Louisiana, Texas and Venezuela. After moving back to East Texas, he worked for 17 years as Quality Control for Kelly Springfield, Tyler and enjoyed his time as a cattleman and working on his land.
Mr. Stout was a member of the First Baptist Church, Mixon where he served as a Deacon.
He married Helen Hemby April 28, 1949. She preceded him in death May 20, 1995.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Jeanie Stout, Whitehouse; a daughter and son-in-law; Debbie and Jerry Knight, Troup; five grandchildren and their spouses, Shanna and Lee Williams, William "Billy Don" Stout, Jennifer Walston, Adam and Terrell Knight, and Kristi and Kevin Pierce; eight great grandchildren, Lexee Jones, A.J. Knight, Carter Knight, Koen Williams, Kylee Williams, Kevin Pierce, James Pierce, and Thomas Pierce.
The Deacons of the First Baptist Church, Mixon will serve as Pallbearers and Honorary Pallbearers.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm, Saturday, October 6.
