Obituary of Bro. Thomas Beene

Services for Brother Thomas G. Beene, Sr., 81, Arp, will be at 2:00 pm, Saturday, September 29, 2012, in the Cottle-Pearson Funeral Home Chapel, Overton, with Brother Don Schultz and Brother Mike Cary officiating. Burial, with full military honors will be in Rusk County Memorial Gardens, Henderson. Brother Beene died Tuesday, September 25, 2012, in a Tyler hospice facility. He was born April 18, 1931, in Mobile, Alabama to the late Thomas J. and Vera Gordon Beene. Brother Beene retired in 1970 as a Master Sergeant in the U.S. Air Force. He had also worked for and retired from Jacson Cemetery Service in Henderson.  He pastored several churches and was the Associate Pastor of the Overton Missionary Baptist Church. He was member of the Hall Brother VFW Post # 9185, Overton and the American Legion. Brother Beene married Ethel Haller in Camden, Arkansas January 18, 1952. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Ethel Beene of Arp; a daughter, Julia Dailey  of New London; six sons and daughters-in-law, Thomas G. Beene, Jr. and Carol Beene of California, Jonathan C. and Kim Beene of Troup, Jefferson R. and Vivian Beene of Kilgore, Daniel A. and Kathie Beene of Troup, Benjamin H. and Sherry Beene of Frankston and Robert E. and Kristie Beene of McKinney; a brother and sister-in-law, Jim and Wendy Beene of Eldorado Springs, Arkansas; 10 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Hall Brother VFW Post # 9185, Overton. The family wishes to extend special thanks to the staff of the Hospice of East Texas. Memorials, if desired may be made to Missions at the Overton Missionary Baptist Church, P.O. Box 262, Overton, Tx, 75684 or to the Hospice of East Texas, 4111 University Blvd, Tyler, TX 75701. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm, Friday, September 28.
