Services for Verda Mae Williamson, 90, New London, are scheduled for 11:00 am, Monday, January 31, at the Cottle-Pearson Funeral Home chapel, Overton with Reverend Ken Hayman officiating. Burial will be in Rusk County Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Williamson died Saturday, January 29, 2011, in a Longview hospice. She was born September 18, 1920, in Big Spring to the Late Robert and Effie Mae Rice Petree. She had been a resident of New London for the past 70 years. She had worked as a supervisor for the R.L. Davis Company, Overton. She was also a longtime member of the London Baptist Church. "Snooks" as she was known since her teen years, enjoyed sewing and crafts. She made numerous dresses, outfits and costumes for her grandchildren Wendy and Ashley. Even after her 80th birthday, she enjoyed working in her yard and flower beds. She mowed, used the weedeater and dug in her rose garden on beautiful sunny days. "Snooks" also enjoyed country western music and spent hours dancing the two-step. One of her favorite pastimes was meeting her girlfriends for lunch after church. She was a beautiful, loving and caring Christian woman who we had the privilege of knowing and making lifelong memories. Mrs. Williamson was preceded in death by her husband, R.T. "Windy" Williamson in 1992 and by her son, Robert Henry Williamson in 2007 and by sisters, Sally Petree Warren and Carol Ann Foster and brothers, Millard Petree and Howard Petree. Survivors include her daughter-in-law, Judy Williamson, New London; a grandson, Robert Ashley Williamson, Plano; a granddaughter and grandson-in-law, Wendy Love Williamson Jackson and Jake Jackson, New London; three great-grandchildren, William Paul Jackson, Cole McCoy Jackson, and Rhett Henry Jackson all of New London; two sisters, Dorothy Riehl, Tyler and Gloria Jean Lynch, Kentucky; a brother, Buck Foster, Chicago; and several nieces and nephews. Honorary Pallbearers will be Jimmy Youngblood, George Hamilton, Dale Johnson, Billy Vernon, Walter Peacock, and Beaver Cole, all classmates of her son, Robert Williamson and also, Ashley Williamson and Jake Jackson. The Family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10:00 am until 11:00 am, Monday, January 31. Memorials, if desired, may be made to the London Baptist Church, P.O.
