Obituary of Josie Arletha Cunningham

Services for Josie Arletha Cunningham, 75, Henderson are scheduled for 4:00 pm, Monday, September 24, 2012, at the Cottle-Pearson Funeral Home chapel, Overton with the Reverends Ernest Higginbotham and James Russell officiating. Burial will be in the Mt. Hope Cemetery near Henderson. Mrs. Cunningham died Friday, September 21, 2012, in a Henderson hospital. She was born January 3, 1937, in Henderson to the late Jewell and Ollie Leona Gordon Waggoner. She was a homemaker and was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Henderson. She had also worked for Leisure Lodge Nursing Home in Henderson. Mrs. Cunningham married Jessie Edgar "J.E." Cunningham in Henderson, November 5, 1953. He preceded her in death September 27, 2009, following 56 years of marriage. She was also preceded in death by a son, Jessie Dean Cunningham in 1958, and a sister, Joan Houston, October 15, 2011. Survivors include a son, Earl Gene Cunningham of Henderson; three daughters and sons-in-law,  Josie Gwen Williams and Fredie Joe Williams, Sr. of Henderson, Loye Leona and Blaine Fancher of New London, and Penny Lynn and Jerry Vinson of Easton; a brother, Gordon Waggoner of Henderson; a sister, Toni Godwin of Henderson; eleven grandchildren, Fredie Joe Williams, Jr., Edgar Cole Williams, Weldon Lavon Williams, Andrew James Jones, Billy J. Jones, Coy Jake Jones, Kandis Dawn Skibo, Jeremy Christopher Vinson, Heather Arletha Bevers, Jessie Raymond Vinson, and Jason Dean Vinson; 21 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be grandsons, Fredie Joe Williams, Jr., Edgar Cole Williams, Weldon Lavon Williams, Andrew James Jones, Billy J. Jones, Coy Jake Jones, Jeremy Christopher Vinson, Jessie Raymond Vinson, and Jason Dean Vinson. Honorary pallbearers will be sons-in-law, Fredie Joe Williams, Sr., Blaine Fancher and Jerry Vinson. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm, Sunday, September 23.
