Obituary of Glenn Nesbitt

Services for Glenn Nesbitt, 91, Lindale, formerly of Troup and Tyler, are scheduled for 10:00 am, Monday, August 6, 2012, at the Cottle Funeral Home chapel, Troup with the Reverends Bruce Rudd and Al Dusek officiating. Burial, with military honors, will be in the Pinecrest Cemetery, Troup. Mr. Nesbitt died Friday, August 3, 2012, in a Tyler hospital. He was born November 23, 1920, in Troup to the late Carl and Bessie Rowden Nesbitt. A former resident of Troup and Tyler, he had been a resident of Lindale since 2003. He was a member of Mt. Sylvan Baptist Church. He was a 50 year Mason, a member of the Grand Lodge of Texas, Dixie Masonic Lodge #272, Troup and was a Past Master. He was on active duty with the U.S. Navy from 1942 until 1946 and then entered the U.S. Navy Reserves, retiring in 1980.  Mr. Nesbitt retired as a salesman for Pillsbury Mills after 40 years of employment. He married Rosie Odell Hamilton, in Arp, November 8, 1946. She preceded him in death December 13, 2009, following 63 years of marriage. Survivors include son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Pat Nesbitt of Beaumont; daughter, Betty Louise Nesbitt of Lindale; grandsons, Shawn Nesbitt and Cody Nesbitt; and two great granddaughters, Allison Nesbitt and Natalie Nesbitt. Pallbearers will be Ron Bartlett, Jad Dusek, Jerry Knight, Ricky Knight, Tony Rand, and Len Speiser. Honorary pallbearers will be Richard Wilson and Ira Groom. Memorials, if desired may be made to the Mt. Sylvan Baptist Church, P.O. Box 1630, Lindale, TX 75771 or to the charity of one's choice. The Family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm, Sunday, August 5.
