Obituary of Brother Glenn Knox

Services for Our Beloved Brother Glenn N. Knox, 84, Overton, are scheduled for 10:00 am, Tuesday, July 10 at the Cottle-Pearson Funeral Home chapel, Overton with the Reverends Clay Potter, Ronnie Glover and Frank Stringham officiating.  Graveside services are scheduled for 4:30 pm, Tuesday, July 10 at the Sweetwater Cemetery, near Decatur. Brother Knox, a strong defender of the faith, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, July 7, 2012. "To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord." He was born May 6, 1928, in Knox County to the late Everett and Maggie Hayes Knox. Brother Knox was a member of the Bible Baptist Church, Overton. He had pastored for over 50 years, serving the West Handley Baptist Church, Fort Worth, the Providence Baptist Church, Grand Saline, the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church,the  Grace Baptist Temple, Grand Prairie, the Allison Baptist Church, Decatur and the Latch Baptist Church, Gilmer. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters. He married Clara Catherine Castleberry in Wise County, June 17, 1949. Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Clara Castleberry Knox of Overton; a son, Claude Knox of Overton; grandchildren, Heather Davis, Heath Knox, Stephen Knox and Stuart Knox; 18 great grandchildren; a brother, Bill Knox of Decatur and a host of nieces and nephews. Lonnie Barnes and David McMichael and Grandsons, Heath Knox, Stephen Knox, Stuart Knox, Josh Brown will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm, Monday, July 9.
