Obituary of L. T. Robinson

Services for L. T. Robinson, 87, Overton, are scheduled for 1:00 pm, Thursday, October 11, at Cottle-Pearson Funeral Home chapel with the Reverends Atwell Hankins and Don McPherson officiating. Burial will be in Overton City Cemetery. Mr. Robinson died October 8, 2007 in the Kilgore hospital. He was born April 18, 1920 in Bartlesville, Oklahoma to the late Earl and Lottie Nance Robinson. He married Genetta 'Jo' Godwin May 15, 1940 in McAlester, Oklahoma. Mr. Robinson was a retired operator for La Gloria Refinery in Tyler. He was a World War II veteran serving in the Army in the European Theater with the 4th Infantry Division. He was awarded the Combat Infantry Badge and the Bronze Star. For 35 years, he held various offices including Commander and Quartermaster at the Overton VFW Post, #9185. He moved to Overton in 1950 and was a member of the Overton Missionary Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Genetta 'Jo' Robinson, Overton; one son and daughter-in-law, Shelby and Barbara Robinson, Rockwall; one daughter and son-in-law, Rita and Dean Rinehart, Overton; two brothers, Earl Robinson, Eufala, Oklahoma and Karl Robinson, San Antonio; one sister, Beatrice Duzan, Tecumseh, Oklahoma; 4 grandchildren, RaeShel Hollcroft, Randall Shane Robinson, Felicia Roach, and Deana McCasland; 5 great grandchildren, Garrett Hollcroft, Shelby Hollcroft, Tiffany Rinehart, Dillon Roach, and Jesse Roach. Pallbearers will be Dean Rinehart, Dewayne Roach, David Burk, Charles Burk, Doug Hollcroft, and Davis Massey. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Overton VFW Post, #9185. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday, October 10, from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm.
