Obituary of Carl W. ‘Pug’ Morrow
Services for Carl W. 'Pug' Morrow, 75, Troup, are scheduled for 11:00 am, Friday, June 15 at the First Baptist Church, Troup with the Reverend Lynn Ashcraft and Richard Hicks officiating. Burial will be in the Pinecrest Cemetery, Troup under the direction of Cottle Funeral Home, Troup.
Mr. Morrow died Wednesday, June 13, 2012, at his residence. He was born April 11, 1937, to the late Car T. and Alma Driggers Morrow. Pug worked as a driller for various drilling companies spanning 42 years. He retired in 1996 after suffering a stroke.
He graduated from Troup High School in 1956. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, Troup.
Mr. Morrow married Shelia Rae Thompson in Jacksonville, May 27, 1961.
Pug loved life and people and everybody loved Pug. He and Shelia loved to travel, especially cruises. They had just returned from a cruise with their grandchildren, Katie and Drew. He loved his family.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Shelia Rae Thompson Morrow of Troup; a daughter and son-in-law, Carla and Dale Bekker of Hutto; grandchildren, Drew York of Troup and Katie Rae York of Hutto.
Pallbearers will be Joe Layne, Vester Tennison, Charles Sowders, Johnny Dowdy, Jerry Glenn Lacy, Wendell Womack and Piddler Hemby.
If desired, memorial may be made to the First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 516, Troup, TX 75789.
The Family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm, Thursday, June 14.
