Obituary of Idabelle Harwood

Services for Idabelle A. Harwood, 92, New London, will be at 10:00 am, Saturday, June 9, in the Cottle-Pearson Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Ken Hayman and Reverend Bob Jones officiating. Burial will follow in Rusk County Memorial Gardens near Henderson. Mrs. Harwood died Wednesday, June 6, 2012, in a retirement facility in Tyler. She was born July 3, 1919, in Smith County to the late Charlie O. and Martha Katie Stone Wilson.  She was a longtime resident of New London and was a homemaker. She was a member of the London Baptist Church for 58 years and served as Sunday School teacher, a member of the WMU, the church choir, she taught Vacation Bible School and was a Good and Faithful servant. Mrs. Harwood loved to sew and garden. She was known for her Homemade Pickles, Blackberry Jam and Chicken Fried Steak.   Besides her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, William "Bill' Harwood, on February 17, 1984. Survivors include a son, Larry Harwood, Tyler and a daughter and son-in-law, Charlotte and Steve Wilson, Tyler; a sister and her husband, Elsie and O.O. Horton, Baytown, two grandchildren and their spouses, Stephanie and David Cotton and Wendy and Jay Roten; five great grandchildren, Carlie and Ainsley Cotton and Rylan, Parker and Blakely Roten; and a niece and her husband, Kathy and Roger Nelson, Baytown. Pallbearers will be Don White, Billy Vernon, Carl Merritt, Tom Stewart, Jay Roten, and David Cotton. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm, Friday, June 8.
