Obituary of Milton O'Neal

Services for Milton O'Neal, 70, Overton, are scheduled for 10:00 am, Saturday, May 12 at the First United Methodist Church, Overton with Reverend Fred Parsons officiating.  Graveside services are scheduled for Noon Saturday, May 12 at the Harris Creek Cemetery, under the direction of Cottle-Pearson Funeral Home, Overton. Mr. O'Neal died Monday, May 7, 2012, in a Henderson hospital. He was born November 7, 1941, in Tyler to the late Walter and Mary Frances Whiteside O'Neal. He moved to Overton 31 years ago from Houston. He was very active in the East Texas Area Council of Boy Scouts of America, where he was Troop Committee Chairman of Boy Scout Troop Number 319, Overton. He was a former Lodge Adviser for the Tejas Lodge, Order of the Arrow. Mr. O'Neal worked at the Texas A&M University System and was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Overton. He married Mary St. Cyr in Tyler, August 5, 1967. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a brother, Robert O'Neal. Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Mary O'Neal of Overton; a daughter, Amy O'Neal of Little Rock, Arkansas; a son, Francis O'Neal of Overton; a brother, Frank Lynn O'Neal of Georgetown; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Nell St. Cyr and Pete Fucik of Houston; and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Drate Berry, Carl Hanke, Ayrric Jones, Francis O'Neal, Matthew Parsons, J D Pesikee, Chance Thomas, Jonathan Vetsch. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm, Friday, May 11. Memorials, if desired, may be made to the East Texas Area Council, care of Tejas Lodge, 1331 E Fifth St., Tyler, TX 75701.
