Obituary of Dorothy Giles Perry

Funeral services for Dorothy E. Perry, 90, Overton, are scheduled for 11:00 am, Saturday, September 22, in the Cottle-Pearson Funeral Home chapel, with the Reverend Bill Baker officiating. Burial will be in the Mason Cemetery, Arp. Mrs. Perry died Wednesday, September 19, 2007 in Tyler. She was born April 11, 1917 in Smith County to the late Lewis Walter Giles and Lillie May Mason Giles. She was a life long resident of the Arp and Overton area and a seamstress. She retired from Kilgore Manufacturing Company after twenty years. She attended the Bible Baptist Church in Overton and loved spending time with her children. She was a loving mother and a wonderful grandmother who enjoyed cooking for her family. She was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Verner Perry on August 12, 1981; two brothers, Doc Giles and Albert Walter Giles; three sisters, Pat Bassham, Lizzie Hill, and Edna McClard. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Doyle V. and Diana Perry of Chapel Hill; two daughters and sons-in-law, Ruby and Jim Miller of New London, and Joyce and Truitt Stamps of Lake Palestine; two sisters, Nellie Milne of Fresno, California, and Jane Pittsinger of Mineral Wells; two granddaughters and husbands, Donna and Jay Turner of Tyler, Jan and Mike Hogan of Tyler; four grandsons and wives, Dale and Kim Gill of Quincy, Illinois, Danny Gill of Longview, Donnie and Tammi Gill of Kilgore, and Ronnie and Paula Gill of Henderson; three step grandchildren, Brad Williams of Tyler, Michelle Narlo of Austin and Travis E. Williams of Tyler; eight great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; eleven step great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Danny Gill, Donnie Gill, Dale Gill, Ronnie Gill, Brandon Gill and William Robbins.
