Obituary of Troy Bennett

Graveside services for Troy Bell Bennett, 85, Overton, will be at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 19, in the Overton City Cemetery with Dale Grandstaff officiating under direction of Cottle-Pearson Funeral Home. Mr. Bennett died Sunday, September 16, 2007 at his residence. He was born October 26, 1921 in Sabine County. He is a Veteran of the US Army and served in WW II. He married Katherine Faye Stephens in 1957 and moved to Overton in 1946 from Alto. Mr. Bennett was a well known cattle rancher. He retired from Chevron Oil Company where he was a pumper. He loved working and improving his farm and he loved his grandchildren. Survivors include his wife, Katherine Bennett of Overton; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Curry and Cheryl McClure of Longview, and Eddie Felkner of Houston; two brothers, Carroll Bennett, Jr. of Alto and Truitt Bennett of Silsbee; a sister, Vera Rhodes of Rockwall; six grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
