Obituary of Vivian Hamilton

Services for Vivian Tennison Hamilton, 91, Troup, are scheduled for 5:00 pm, Sunday, April 15 in the Martin's Chapel Church of The Nazarene, Concord Community with Reverend M. H. Klink and Johnny Davis officiating. Burial will be in the Pinecrest Cemetery, Troup, under the direction of Cottle Funeral Home, Troup. Mrs. Hamilton died Friday, April 13, 2012, at her residence. She was born December 15, 1920, in Gatesville to the late James William and Grace Ola Wornick Tennison. She married Forest Hamilton in Troup on October 2, 1937. She was a member of Martin's Chapel Church of the Nazarene. For 18 years she and her husband operated East Side Texaco, in Troup. For 25 years, she worked in nursing homes in Troup and Whitehouse. She loved to cook for her family and friends and taught Sunday School for 50 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Forest Hamilton, February 4, 1995, after 58 years of marriage. Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Charles and Sandie Hamilton of Tyler and Raymond and Marci Hamilton of Troup; two daughters and sons-in-law, Laverne and Wayne Martin and Murel and Roger McElroy all of Troup; a sister, Ruby Baxter of Henderson; three brothers, Vester Tennison of Troup, J.W. Tenninson of Henderson and Graham Tennison of New Summerfield; nine grandchildren, Steve Martin, Susan Hukill, Scotty Martin, Nechelle McElroy, Blake McElroy, Gretchen Wakefield, Tammy Cannon, Kimberly Knighton and Amy Hatcher; 27 great grandchildren; and five great-great grandchildren. The family would like to thank her special caregiver, Virginia McKnight. Pallbearers will be Blake McElroy, Brandon Martin, Matthew Martin, Lance Hukill, Steve Martin, Scotty Martin, Justin Martin, and Stanley Martin. The Family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7:00 pm until 9:00 pm, Saturday, April 14.
