Obituary of LaDelle Winship Tuley
Services for LaDelle Winship Fortenberry Tuley, 78, Lake Tyler East, are scheduled for 3:00 pm, Friday, March 30 at the First United Methodist Church, Troup with the Reverends Mike Cline and Charles Jordan officiating. Burial will be in the Griffin Cemetery, near Troup, under the direction of Cottle Funeral Home, Troup.
Mrs. Tuley died Tuesday, March 27, in a Tyler hospice facility. She was born November 8, 1933, in Corpus Christi to the late Wilfred and Margaret McGahhey Winship. She was a 1950 graduate of Corpus Christi High School. She served as Vice-president of Franklin Savings and Loan in Austin and owned and operated a residential appraisal firm in Jonestown, Texas. She had been a resident of Lake Tyler East since 2001.
Mrs. Tuley served as a volunteer at the Cameron-J.Jarvis Troup Municipal Library. She also organized and coordinated the Troup Community Food Pantry, where she was known as 'The Sarge'. She was also a member of the Troup Women's Civic Organization.
She was an active member of the First United Methodist Church, Troup.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred D. Tuley, brother, Douglas Winship and son, Kenneth Hayden Fortenberry.
LaDelle loved the Lord, she loved her family, and she loved her community and friends. She loved her pets, her birds and all of God's creatures. Caretaking was her gift and her passion. She inspired all who knew her with her dedicated spirit. Her favorite words of encouragement were, " It doesn't hurt you to be tired".
Survivors include her two daughters and a son-in-law, Carrie Fortenberry Hobbs and Eddy Hobbs, Whitehouse and Catherine Tuley, Copperas Cove; 2 sons and daughters-in-law, John and Susan Tuley, Cumberland, Rhode Island and Hershiel and Belén Tuley, Corpus Christi; grandchildren and their spouses, Paul Hugg, Bruce Hugg, Austen Hobbs, Blake and Kelly Hobbs and Alfred Tuley; great grandsons, Ayden Hobbs and Keaton Hobbs; 3 sisters and a brother-in-law, Virginia and William Jordan, Andrea Gibbud, and Gratia Winship; 2 brothers and a sister-in-law Daniel and Karen Winship and Ashley Winship.
Pallbearers will be Eddy Hobbs, John Tuley, Austen Hobbs, Blake Hobbs, Herschiel Tuley, Alfred Tuley, Bruce Hugg and Jason Montier.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Catherine Tuley, Paul Hugg, Ayden Hobbs, Keaton Hobbs, and the Troup Community Food Pantry Volunteers.
Memorials, if desired, may be made to the Troup Community Food Pantry, 202 East Duval, Troup, TX 75789 or to the Hospice of East Texas, 4111 University Blvd., Tyler, TX 75701.
The Family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm, Thursday, March 29.
