Obituary of Lester Andrews
Funeral services for Lester Roy Andrews, 75, Arp, are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 20, at the Cottle-Pearson Funeral Home Chapel of Overton with Reverend Terry Davis and Reverend Doctor Ron Klingsick officiating.
Lester's final resting place will be Mason Cemetery, Arp.
Mr. Andrews passed away from this life March 17, 2007 at his home.
Lester was born in Jena, Louisiana on June 5, 1931 to the late Sullivan S. and Annie M. Bradford Andrews. He grew up in Jena and attended Jena schools. He married Bettye Ann Goetzman in Jena and they celebrated their 56 wedding anniversary February 16, 2007. Lester and Bettye Ann moved to Arp in 1956 and raised three children, Janet, Mark, and Sharon.
Lester retired from Baker-Altech-Justiss Oil Co. after 30 plus years of service. He was a member of the Arp Emmanuel Baptist Church for many years.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Sam Andrews and twin brother, Louie Andrews, two sisters, Ophelia Tarver and Mary L. Crooks, all of Jena, and one granddaughter, Elizabeth Nicole Boyd of Arp.
A loving husband-daddy-and Papa, and a true friend to many. He absolutely loved fishing, gardening and antique cars.
Family who will miss him immensely are his wife, Bettye Ann, daughter, Janet Kellum of Tyler, son and daughter-in-law, Mark, Sr. and Debbie Andrews of New Chapel Hill, daughter, Sharon Pratt of Arp, grandchildren and spouses, Tracey and Paul Ferguson of Whitehouse, Craig Kellum of Omen, Jamie Andrews of Dallas, Mark Jr. and Amanda Andrews of Frisco, Casey and Brooke Boyd of Idabel, Oklahoma, Stephen Pratt of Arp, Renee and Jamie Warren of Canton. Lester had five great grandchildren, Taylor Ferguson, Beth and Lauren Kellum, Cara Jolley, and Kaden Warren, and a host of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be D. Mike Crooks, Steve Andrews, Craig Kellum, Paul Ferguson, Casey Boyd, and Mark Andrews, Jr.
Honorary pallbearers will be Stephen Pratt, W.F. Allen, Don Musslewhite, Ed Parish, M.D. 'Jack' Jackson, and members of the Nudgers Sunday school class.
Family visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Monday, March19 at the funeral home.
