Obituary of Howard Preslar

Services for Howard C. Preslar, 81, Abilene, formerly of Overton, will be at 3:00 pm, Saturday, January 14, at the First Baptist Church, Overton with Reverend Charles Paschall officiating. Burial will be in Overton City Cemetery under direction of Cottle-Pearson Funeral Home, Overton. Mr. Preslar died Wednesday, January 11, 2012, in Mesa Springs. He was born May 18, 1930, in Sanco to the late Howard Dennis and Loma Lea Bodenhammer Preslar. He was a veteran of the US Army National Guard and married Bobbie Seeley March 9, 1967.  Howard worked in the clay pipe industry for 51 years, retiring in September, 2011 from Mission Clay Products. He held several positions within the industry, including, area and regional sales manager and vice president of sales. Besides his parents, Howard was preceded in death by his wife of 38 years, Bobbie Preslar in 2006, a brother, Barton Preslar, a stepson, William A 'Bubba' Tyra and a grandson, Jacob Gilbert. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Jacky and Nancy Preslar, Signal Mountain, Tennessee; a daughter and son-in-law, Kathleen and James Butler, Sweetwater; a stepdaughter, Terri Tyra; Overton; seven grandchildren, Kelly Preslar, Thuy Jimenez, Casey Gilbert, Trent Tyra, Ryn Tyra, Sage Tyra, and Bobby Jo Tyra; a great grandchild, Christopher Jimenez. Pallbearers will be Wayne Lacy, Dr. Jim Hamilton, Dennis May, Bill Steere, Lawrence Vaughn and Mac Gilbert. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church, 2060 N. Rusk St., Overton, Texas 75684    The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM, Friday, January 13.
