I grew up in Hensel Apartments in College Station and Melvin lived in U3A with his wife Cindy while my family was in U3E . He was so big and powerful ( I was only 8) and he was so kind to me and my brother. My father was 14 years older than Mel, as he was going to A and M on a VA for his degree in meteorology, Probably the first Rhode Island Italian he ever met. Needless to say I got hooked on Aggie football then and have been so ever since, in spite of graduating and wrestling at PSU. But our family loved Mel and just was googling his name wondering what he was doing and I saw this, It saddens me greatly, My brother still has a southwest conference tootball he gave us. He still lives on in my heart
God bless you
