Obituary of Johnny Glaze
Services for Johnny W. Glaze, 64, Troup, are scheduled for 1:00 pm, Wednesday, December 28 at the Cottle Funeral Home chapel, Troup with family members officiating. Burial will be in the Pinecrest Cemetery.
Mr. Glaze died Tuesday, December 20, 2011, in a Tyler hospital. He was born August 6, 1947, in Seymour, Texas to the late Deedie and Pauline Nelson Glaze. He had been a resident of Troup since 1992.
He was a veteran of the US Army serving from 1966 until 1973, concluding his service with the National Guard.
Mr. Glaze had been a heavy equipment mechanic, a parts manager and had worked for Trane in Tyler for 10 years.
He had overcome many adversities in his life, including a devastating train wreck in 1997 which caused the loss of his lower left leg. He fully recovered and returned to an active lifestyle, working full time, running cattle and investing in local real estate. Another tragedy struck in 2004 when he suffered a debilitating stroke. Although he again fully recovered, it did leave him permanently disabled and prevented his return to work. In his later years he still enjoyed working with cattle, talking politics and spending time with family and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brother, Delbert Glaze, a sister, Joyce Guthridge, and his former wife, Sherrill Mills.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Jody and Maria Glaze; two daughters and a son-in-law, Deedee and Dion Williams and Miranda Glaze all of Troup; a brother, Jack Glaze, Wichita Falls; sisters, Shirley Craighead, Electra and Wanda Floyd, Wichita Falls, Frances O'Brian, Portland, Oregon; three grandchildren, DeeDee Glaze, Eowyn Glaze, and Jadon Glaze.
The Family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7:00 pm until 9:00 pm, Tuesday, December 27.
