Obituary of Dwight Graham

Services for Dwight Graham, formerly of Tyler, will be held at 2:00 p.m Monday, April 2, at the First Baptist Church in Bullard. Burial will be in the Pinecrest Cemetery, Troup, under the direction of Cottle Funeral Home, Troup. Mr. Graham died Wednesday, March 28th, 2007 in Springfield, Missouri. He was born in Quinlan, Texas, Sept. 28, 1929, the son of Bill and Annie Graham. He was preceded in death by Frances, his wife of 39 years and the mother of his two children, his father Bill, and two brothers, Wayne and Doyle. He was a lifetime member of the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Assn., the Rodeo Historical Society, and inducted into the Texas Rodeo Cowboy Hall of Fame in 1999. He was employed by the Moorman Mfg. Co. of Quincy, Ill. for 34 years, beginning as a salesman and eventually became a Texas State Manager for his beloved company. He was a long time member of Willow Brook Country Club, in Tyler, and a member of the First Baptist Church of Bullard, TX. He will always be remembered first and foremost as "a cowboy", but was considered by his peers to be a great leader. In 1992, he was fortunate to re-connect with a wonderful lady Jean, who became his wife and companion in his final 15 years. He is survived by his mother, Annie Graham, his wife Jean, his son Don and daughter-in-law Jane, his son Joel and daughter-in-law Anne Marie, stepson Chip Wood and wife Shirine, and his grandchildren Kelsey, Ty, Hunter, and step grandchild Devan Wood. Survivors also include his sister Rita Thomas and youngest brother, Ronnie, along with numerous nephews and nieces. Pallbearers are Bill Hebb, Rodney Jones, Harry Leatherwood, Joe Cavender, Mike Cavender, and Clay Cavender. Visitation will be at Cottle Funeral Home in Troup, Sunday, April 1, from 5-7 p.m. If desired in lieu of flowers, donations in Dwight's name may be made to the Rodeo Historical Society, 1700 Northeast 63rd St., Oklahoma City, OK. or The Texas Rodeo Cowboy Hall of Fame in Belton, TX.
