Obituary of John Sieber

Services for John Allen Sieber, 82, will be at 3:00 pm, Friday, December 23, in the Cottle-Pearson Funeral Home chapel with Reverends Robert Williams and Dave Walker officiating. Private burial will follow. John went to Our Lord's arms, whom he loved, on December 20. 2011. He was born in Arp, September 27, 1929, to the late Fannie and Bryan Sieber. Pete, as he was affectionally known, had a large family of friends whom loved to visit and joke with him. He was blessed with a donor heart fifteen and one half years ago and did not waste any time returning this great unselfish act of kindness with his own acts of kindness, "One Day At A Time."  Many of these deeds unknown to family and friends. He had a great passion for the land and loved to hunt and fish. He even built a great pond so he could watch the fish and feed them. When he was not doing that he was driving thru the country side with his beloved wife Mary watching the countryside change, as they grew older. Pete lived in the Arp area most of his life and graduated from Arp High School. He was a rancher and worked in the oil field around East Texas. He served his country in the U.S. Army, and was an active member of Lakeview Church of Nazarene in Tyler and Kilgore Nazarene Church. He was preceded in death by his parents Bryan and Fannie Sieber, Brothers, Walter, Cecil, and Harold, and Sisters, Vesta and Grace Bayless. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Mary Lea, his brothers, Carl and his wife Laura Sieber, and Thomas and his wife Shirley Sieber, all of Arp, and sister, Ruby and husband Bill Kleam of Spring, Texas, numerous nephews and nieces, and many friends. Special thanks to Dr. Propst of Tyler, who cared for Pete the last 30 years. Special thanks to Dr. Clyde Yancey and Dr. Boehrer, of Dallas, also to all the many doctors and nurses in Dallas for 17 years at St. Paul-University of Texas Southwestern Heart and Lung, and to the many Doctors and staff in Tyler. Special thanks to Hospice for their caring staff during his last days before he went home. Memorials may be made to UT Southwestern Medical Center Office of Development, P.O. Box 910888, Dallas, TX 75391-0888 or online giving@utsouthwester.edu.org.
