Obituary of Ira Guy Brown

Memorial services for Ira Guy Brown, 70, Troup are scheduled for 2:00 pm, Saturday, December 3, at the County Line Baptist Church, Bullard with Reverend B.C. McCoy officiating. Mr. Brown died Friday, November 25, 2011, in a Tyler hospital. He was born April 7, 1941, in Troup, to the late Herman Guy Brown and Edith Freeman Brown.  He attended school in Whitehouse and Arp, where he graduated in 1959. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1960 until 1964.  For 29 years he faithfully served as a DPS Trooper in Harris, Dallas, Smith, Rusk, and Henderson counties until his retirement in 1995. He was a great husband and father who loved his family, but most of all, he loved Jesus and now resides with him in Heaven. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by two sisters, Gail Brown Griffith and Dianna Brown Mann. He is survived by his wife, Sandra Brown, Troup; a son and daughter-in-law, Jonathan Guy Brown and Jessica Brown, Fort Worth; two stepsons and a stepdaughter-in-law, Paul and Tonia Bowers, Denton and Jeff Bowers, Plano; brothers and sisters-in-law, Ray and Sheryie Brown, Saint Joe, Arkansas, Gordon and Glenda Brown, Coweta, Oklahoma, Stanley and Debbie Brown, Overton and Dale and Marilyn Brown, Troup; sisters and brothers-in-law, Patricia and Bob Green, Troup, Linda and Jerry Cross, New Chapel Hill, Carolyn and David Myers, Troup and Martha and Mike Dudley, New Chapel Hill; his former wife, Charlotte Butler, Canton; grandchildren, Meredith Brown and Connor Guy Brown and Marley Bowers; and a host of aunts, uncles and cousins. The Family will receive friends at the County Line Baptist Church, 13181 Fm 344 W  Bullard, TX 75757 following the service from 3:00 pm until 4:00 pm.
