Obituary of Walter Womack

Services for Walter Lee Womack, 91, Troup, are scheduled for 10:00 am, Saturday, March 31, at the Cottle Funeral Home chapel, Troup with the Reverends James Cheatham and Mike Jeter officiating. Burial will be in the Union Grove Cemetery, near Troup. Mr. Womack died Thursday, March 29, in a Tyler hospice facility. He was born February 13, 1916, near Troup to the late Julius and Ada Nunn Womack. He was a lifetime resident of Troup. Mr. Womack retired from Sinclair Oil Company in 1962 and from the State of Texas in 1983. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, Troup. Mr. Womack married Anita Johnson, September 8, 1934. She preceded him in death June 29, 2002, following 68 years of marriage. He was also preceded in death by nine brothers and sisters, three grandchildren, and a precious daughter-in-law, Eldonna Womack. Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Diane and Steve Eaton, Troup and Claudine and Bill Stoker, Whitehouse; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Wendel and Carla Womack, Whitehouse and Dwayne 'Buddy' Womack, Troup; eleven grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; twelve great-great grandchildren; a special niece, Juanece Smith; numerous other nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Judy South. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Honorary Pallbearers will be Nolan Smith and Charlie Rhodes. The Family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm, Friday, March 30. Memorials, if desired, may be made to the Hospice of East Texas, 4111 University Blvd, Tyler, TX 75701 or to the First Baptist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 561, Troup, TX 75789-0516.
