Obituary of Reba Mae Melton

Funeral services for Reba Mae Melton, 93, of Tyler, will be held 3:00 pm, Thursday, May 2, 2019, at Cottle Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Don Copeland officiating. Burial will follow at Union Grove Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Cottle Funeral Home, Troup.

Mrs. Melton was born May 18, 1925, in Jacksonville, TX, to the late Charles Edger McNew and Jakie McMillan McNew. She passed away on April 28, 2019, in Tyler, Texas.

Reba married the love of her life the late Raymond D. Melton, March 14, 1945. She enjoyed a quiet life. She enjoyed listening to music, reading her Bible, gardening, watching her birds and squirrels and she loved her family with all her heart. She was a member of Union Grove Baptist Church.

Mrs. Melton is preceded in death by her parents, an infant daughter, Suzanne Melton; granddaughter, Rebecca Jane Thompson Corley; four sisters and one brother.

Survivors include her daughter, Sharon and husband Jimmy Thompson of Rusk; grandson, Stoney and wife Mary Thompson of Rusk; great-grandchildren, Weston, Will and Witton Thompson, Carson Corley and Anderson Corley all of Rusk and grandson-in-law, Clint and wife Angela Corley of Rusk; brother, Maxie and wife Betty McNew of Mabank; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers will be Jimmy Thompson, Clint Corley, Stoney Thompson, Tom Williams, Jerry Thompson, and Carson Corley.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Weston Thompson, Will Thompson, Witton Thompson, and Anderson Corley.

Visitation will be from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm, Thursday, May 2, 2019, prior to the service, at Cottle Funeral Home, Troup.
