Obituary of Mary Elvena Davis

Services for Mary Elvena Davis, 93, Overton, are scheduled for 4:00pm,Thursday, April  11, 2019 at the Arp First Baptist Church with Brother Mike Rice and Brother Joel Cobbs officiating. Burial will be in the Mason Cemetery in Arp.

Mrs. Davis passed away, Saturday, April 6, 2019 in a nursing home in Tyler. She was born January 21, 1926 in Branch, Arkansas to the late Luther Cobbs and Sidney Shott Cobbs. She married the love of her life, Eugene Davis on November 23, 1943, and they moved to Overton 6 years later in 1949 and have been in the Overton community ever since.  She was a member of the Arp First Baptist Church. Mary enjoyed cooking, painting ceramics, sewing, quilting and gardening.  She loved spending time with her family and friends.

Besides her parents, Mrs. Davis was also preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Eugene Davis; son, Larry Davis; daughter, Neda Charlton; one grandson, one great-grandson, two sisters and one brother.

Survivors include her four daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara and Don Ray Robinson of Tyler; Jeanie Eddington of Overton; Phyllis Guinn of New London; Debbie and Stanley Brown of Overton; daughter-in-law, Kim Daniels of Arp; son-in-law, Marlow Charlton of Tyler; 17 grandchildren, 48 great-grandchildren, 8 great-great-grandchildren; one special cousin, Vernon Shott of Gladewater; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Tommy Guinn, David Guinn, Greg Guinn, Steven Robinson, Chris Robinson, Todd Eddington, Noey Brown and Michael Charlton.  Honorary pallbearers will be all of her great-grandsons.

Memorial donations may be made to Arp First Baptist Church.
