Obituary of Violet Sunshine Pate

Funeral services for Violet Sunshine Pate, 89, of Troup, will be held 2:00 pm, Thursday, March 28, 2019, at Cottle Funeral Home, Troup, with Reverend Joe Ballard, officiating. Burial will follow at Pinecrest Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Cottle Funeral Home, Troup.

Sunshine passed away on March 24, 2019, in Tyler, Texas. She was born September 12, 1929, in Jacksonville, Texas, to the late Robert L. Ferrell and Maud B. Scruggs Ferrell. She was retired from Real Estate and enjoyed going on cruises and traveling. Her favorite hobbies were playing bridge and solitaire.  She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Troup.

She is preceded in death by her parents and husband, Otis Ray Pate, son, Robert “Butch” Townsend, granddaughter, Robin Sunshine Pate, and her siblings.

Survivors include her sons, Byron Townsend and wife Kathy of Troup; Paul Michael Pate of Troup and David Alan Pate of Troup; daughter, Brenda Marcus and husband Danny of Lufkin; 8 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, Wednesday, March 27, 2019, at Cottle Funeral Home, Troup.
