Obituary of Billy Joe Marchbanks

  Funeral services for Billy Joe Marchbanks, 91, of Overton, will be at 1:30 pm, Thursday, March 21, 2019 in the Cottle-Pearson Funeral Home Chapel, Overton, with Chaplain Charlie Riley officiating. Burial will follow in Overton City Cemetery.

  Mr. Marchbanks went home to be with the Lord Sunday, March 17, 2019. He was born August 8, 1927 in Manchester, Texas to the late William Clovis and Kate Srygley Marchbanks. He was a longtime resident of the East Texas area, settling in Overton 34 years ago. He enjoyed a long life as a driller in the oilfields. He was a loving father and a good provider for his family. He loved spending time with his family and friends doing many outdoor activities. In his later years, he enjoyed his daily trips to the feed store, where he would gather with his friends. He loved his animals on the farm and enjoyed wheeling and dealing tractors, cattle and other things. He was a member of the Overton First Baptist Church.

  Besides his parents, Mr. Marchbanks was preceded in death by his wife, Beverly Marchbanks, a son, Billy Joe Marchbanks, Jr., first wife, Bessie Mae Russell and seven brothers and sisters. 

  Survivors include his children and their spouses, Tonya Harris of Chickasha, Oklahoma, William and Debbie Marchbanks of Brenham, Texas, Britt Marchbanks of Arp, Texas, Sam and Cindy Marchbanks of Chickasha, Oklahoma, and Sunnie and Steve Soloman of Dallas; Vicki and Mike McAlexander of Longview, Texas; Charles Modisette of Lake Gladewater, Texas; a sister, Pat Chapman of Paris, Texas; 12 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.
