Just the mention of Ms Ruby's name brings comfort; a fine christian, hard-working & humble. We didn't use the term "baby-sitter" but she "kept" me many times 50-some-odd years ago. She "kept" & treated me as if she was responsible for my character. I appreciate the loving discipline that made her so special & solid. We love her & will miss her example. Prayers to Carlin, his brothers & their families!

Oh, so sad to learn of Ruby's passing. But no doubt about her salvation. Our friendship began in April, 2000, when my daughter and I mapped out the Union Grove Cemetery and I read her heart-touching note about her Baby Girl buried there. Our 21 year old son, who passed away from cancer, is also buried there. When we met in person, we both had four other children, went to the same nursing school, teach Sunday School, and my grandmother who passed away before I was born, was named Ruby.I loved Ruby before I met her in person. We wrote letters, talked on the phone and ate together at Union Grove annual Cemetery Reunion. We talked about the Lord so much, health concerns, eating spinach (and no nuts, popcorn or Iceberg lettuce). I last talked to her about 2-3 weeks ago but planned to call this weekend.I will miss her so much but her passing makes Heaven a Dearer Place. My love to her family. She loved you so much.

I was honored to meet and spend a weekend with Ruby in May of 2013. Her grand daughter married my son in Galveston TX. Her smile and laugh and comfort made me feel like I knew her my entire life, she just had that gift of love. I remember walking around the shops in Galveston and really loving her company. I feel like everyone who had the opportunity to meet Ruby, even for a short amount of time, were truly blessed with this amazing woman. Her name fits her as she was a jewel and a treasure. Darrel, my heart goes out to you and your family. xxoo
