Obituary of Anthony Calton Thomas

Funeral services for Anthony Calton “Tony” Thomas, 57, of Troup, will be held 10:00 am, Tuesday, February 5, 2019, at First Baptist Church of Arp with Reverends Mike Rice and Sam Jones officiating. Burial will follow at Rucker Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Cottle Funeral Home, Troup.

 Tony passed away February 1, 2019 in Troup, Texas. He was born March 19, 1961 in Overton, Texas, to Wayne Calton Thomas and Juanita Parish Thomas. He was a graduate of Arp High School, He also was a long-time member of Arp First Baptist church, where he met his wife Bonnie Nash and have been married for 36 years. He was retired from the City of Whitehouse as a Plant Operator and he was a member of the TWUA. He worked in the oilfield for 10 years. He was employed by the City of Arp, Blackjack Water Supply, Concord water Supply, the City of Troup for 10 years as Public Works Director and then retired from the City of Whitehouse as Waste Water Plant Operator in 2003 after 9 years.

Tony’s hobbies were fishing, camping, running chains for both Arp and Troup football teams and watching Nascar races and MMA fights. His favorite places to be were the sound room at church and the monthly All the Kings men meetings.

Survivors include his wife of 36 years, Bonnie Nash Thomas of Troup; son, Danny Thomas of Troup; parents, Tot and Juanita Thomas of Arp; brother, Johnny Thomas and wife Lori of Overton; sister, Rhonda Dark and husband Jimmy of Chapel Hill; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Susan and Robert Wall of Overton; Marty and Mark McDougal of Troup; numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Pallbearers will be Gene Bentley, Bill Kitchings, Omar Marroquin, Joseph Dubose, Dale Brown, Joel King, Corey Rice, Pat Bell, and Carlos Cooper.

Honorary Pallbearer Hugh Harvey (Mr. H).

Visitation will be from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, Monday, February 4, 2019, at the funeral home.
