Obituary of Winnie Mildred Carson
Funeral services for Winnie Mildred Carson, 95, of Overton, will be 2:00 pm, Thursday, October 25, at Cottle-Pearson Funeral Home with Reverend David Hampton officiating. Burial will follow in Mason Cemetery, Arp. Arrangements are under the direction of Cottle-Pearson Funeral Home in Overton.
Mrs. Carson passed away Sunday, October 21. She was born in Killeen on January 9, 1923 to Malcolm East and Mary Etta Isaacks. Winnie spent her early years in Austin, graduating from Austin HS and married J. W. Carson on January 26, 1942. They moved to Katy, where Winnie worked for 21 years as a pastor’s secretary for the 1st Baptist Church. After 33 years in Katy they moved once more, settling in Overton in 1985. She was a member of Forrest Home Baptist Church in Kilgore and her church was a very important part of her life.
Besides her parents, Winnie was also preceded in death by her husband, a sister and brother-in-law, Zelma and Ross Edwin and a grandson, Jarrod King.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Janet Ann and James King of Overton; her son and daughter-in-law, Jay Ross and Betsy Carson of Arp; a grandson, Justin Jay Carson of New Braunfels; five granddaughters, Janna Jaye Smith of Tyler, Janai Janet King of New London, Lacy Carson of Arp, Courtney Lynn Vogas of New Braunfels and Cayla Jaye Garner of Henderson; numerous great grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be prior to the service, 1:00 pm-2:00 pm at the funeral home.
