Obituary of Randy Lee Draughon

Randy Lee Draughon, 52, left this life Monday, September 17, 2018, surrounded by his loving family. Randy was born November 1, 1965, to Howard Virgil Draughon and Nancy Lee (Dixon) Draughon in Tyler, TX.

Randy attended Whitehouse ISD where he discovered a passion for football.  He built lifelong friendships through this sport and stayed close with many of them after he graduated from Whitehouse High School in 1984.  After high school, Randy’s interests shifted to pursue bull riding for a few years before settling on less strenuous hobbies of fishing, motorcycle riding, and taxidermy.  Randy was a loyal employee, working as a truck driver and in the construction industry.  His true passion in life however, was raising his three children and loving on his grandchildren. He was a loyal man who devoted his life to his family and friends.

He is survived by his parents Virgil and Nancy Draughon of Whitehouse, TX; son Christopher Draughon (Sarah) of Las Cruces, NM; daughter Chyenne Norton (Shawn) of Chapel Hill, TX; daughter Chelsi Draughon of Whitehouse; granddaughters Kylie Draughon, Bailey Draughon, and Brailey Norton; brother Roben Draughon; sister Debbie Bynum (Jay); Angie Weston, of Whitehouse, TX, the woman who held a special place in his heart for the last 5 years; former spouse Paula Oden of Tyler, TX; former spouse Jodi Draughon of Whitehouse, TX; and several nieces and nephews.   

A visitation will be held on Friday, September 21, 2018 from 6-8 pm at the Cottle Funeral Home in Troup.  A funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 22, 2018 at 10 am at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church with Reverend Bennie Portwood officiating. Pallbearers will be Christopher Draughon, Roben Draughon, Caleb Bynum, Jeff Bell, David Cheatham, and Gary Oglesbee.

The family requests that flowers be sent to Cottle Funeral Home in Troup.
