Obituary of Clyde Thomas Shackelford

Funeral services Clyde Thomas Shackelford, Jr., 80 of Mixon, will be 1PM Tuesday July, 10, at First Baptist Church of Mixon with Reverend Hayland Hardy officiating. Burial will follow in Mixon Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Cottle Funeral Home, Troup.

Clyde, also known to his family and friends as “CT” and “PawPaw”, passed away Friday, July 6, 2018. He was born in Talco Community, Texas August 19, 1937 to the late Clyde Shackelford, Sr. and Alice Cleo Musick Shackelford. He married the love of his life, Carolyn Jeanette Graham, also known as “Grandmar”, May 22, 1959.

 CT worked for Kelly Springfield Tire Company in Tyler for 32 years. He loved being on the farm, raising cows, and traveling, but most of all, he loved spending time with his family.

Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his brothers Noel Shackleford, Donald Shackelford and Travis Shackelford and his four-legged pal “Snuffy.”

Survivors include his loving wife of 59 years, Carolyn Jeanette Shackelford of Mixon; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Tom and Vicki Shackelford of Richmond, Tim Shackelford of Mixon, and Todd and Paula Shackelford of Quitman; six grandchildren, Maegan and Steven O’Neal of Waco, Blaine and Samantha Shackelford of Lindale, Jessica Shackelford and her fiancé Max Garrison of Houston, Kevin Shackelford of Tyler, Emily Shackelford of Austin, and Travis Shackelford of Tyler; three great grandchildren Brynlee O’Neal, Kaysen Shackelford and Logyn O’Neal; a host of RV buddies, friends and his best four legged companion “Buzz.”

Pallbearers will be Damien Miller, Colten Peek, Dewayne Staples, Jeff Shackelford, Ralph Jolley, Mike Gajewsky and J.R. Oehlke.

Visitation will be at Cottle Funeral Home, Troup, 6pm-8pm Monday, July 9, 2018.
