Obituary of Ethel Ree Beekman

    Memorial services for Ethel Ree Beekman, 87, of Overton will be at 2:00 pm, Saturday, April 25, 2018 at First Baptist Church in Overton with Dr. Charles Paschall officiating.

    Mrs. Beekman died Saturday, April 21, 2018 at 11:17 am at her home in Overton. She was born May 11, 1930 to the late Minor S. and Willie Mae Farley Odom. 

    She was a bookkeeper for Insurance One for 43 years until her retirement in December 2013. She was appointed woman of the year in ABWA in 1981, and was a part of the organization for several years. 

    Ethel enjoyed being at home and being around her family as well as reading murder mystery books. She also loved reading her daily scripture to start her day while she was having her coffee.

    Besides her parents Mrs. Beekman was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Leroy Beekman, Jr.; her sister, Vera Bass and brother, Willie Odom.

    Survivors include her son, Marlin Beekman of Overton; her daughter and son-in-law, Andrea and Joshua Shuck of Overton; sister and brother-in-law Shirley and Jack Wininger; two grandchildren, Jonathan Franklin of Overton and William Franklin of Wills Point; three great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
