Obituary of Martin Thomas Farrell, Jr.

Martin Thomas Farrell, Jr., a native of Pass Christian, MS, died peacefully surrounded by loving family on April 20, 2018.

Marty, a decorated veteran of World War II, was an officer in the U.S. Army 8^th Air Force. He received a degree in petroleum engineering at the University of Oklahoma, followed by a 36-year career at Gulf Oil Corporation. Marty and Shirley Moore Farrell, his beloved wife of 66 years, and their three children lived in Louisiana, Mississsippi, Texas, and Oklahoma. After retirement, Marty and Shirley lived for over 30 years in Athens, TX. Marty was a member of St. Edward’s Catholic Church and a charter member of Council 10524 of the Knights of Columbus. In 2014 Marty and Shirley relocated to Indianapolis, IN.

Martin was preceded in death by his parents, Martin and Margaret C. Farrell and two brothers, Marion James Farrell and Warren Joseph Farrell.

Survivors include his wife Shirley; daughter, Lisa and husband Gary Harrison of Burlington, VT; daughter, Elaine and husband Thomas Howard, M.D., of Indianapolis, IN; son, Gregory Farrell, M.D. and wife Deborah of Sherman, TX; grandchildren, Kate, Marty, and Maggie Farrell; and Conrad and Nan Howard; and great grandchildren Will, Evelyn, Sam, Connor, Martin, and Jack.
