Obituary of Dorothy Mae Mullins
Dorothy Mae Mullins entered this life on February 7, 1930, and entered into heaven on February 16, 2018. Dorothy was born to Anciel Gus (Moon) Mullins and Loula Mae Puckett Mullins in Mason, TX. Visitation will be at the Overton City Cemetery in Overton, TX, at 1:30 p.m. Monday, February 19, 2018, with graveside service at 2:00 p.m.
She is survived by sisters Shirley Mullins Kucifer and Alma Mullins Stapp, 12 nephews and nieces and numerous great-nephews and great-nieces. Dorothy is preceded in death by Otto Mullins, Early Dawn Mullins Nelson, Johnny Lloyd Mullins, and Roy Lynn Mullins, and nephew Robert Paul Mullins.
Dorothy was a caregiver for elderly and disabled people for many years. Although born with a congenital eye defect and legally blind, Dorothy attended Overton Public Schools until she was a teenager, then attended Texas School for the Blind, Austin, TX, until graduation in 1952.
She lived in the Los Angeles, CA area for 45 years, moving back to Texas in 2016, living in College Station, TX. since that time. While in California, Dorothy attended Los Angeles Community College, as well as the Braille Institute, taking many art classes, and she became well known in Southern California for her art work,with exhibits in that area, and in Minnesota and Louisville, Kentucky, until she became totally blind several years ago.
Dorothy will be greatly missed by her family and many friends.
