Obituary of Donna Jean Mathews

Funeral services for Donna Jean “Amber” Mathews, 67, of Overton will be at 2:00 pm, Friday, January 5, 2018 in the Cottle-Pearson Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Atwell Hankins officiating the ceremony. Burial will be in the Overton City Cemetery.

Mrs. Mathews passed away Monday, January 1, 2018 at Hospice of Tyler, after a long battle against brain cancer. She celebrated her last days by ringing in the New Year surrounded by family and loved ones. 

She was born November 21, 1950 in Matador to the late Hubert Gean and Gladdis Evelyn Wilbanks-Dyer. She married Cecil Gene Mathews November 21, 1996 in Overton, Texas. She was a homemaker and enjoyed collecting turtles and sunflowers. Donna lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures, chatting with friends and family, or spending time with loved ones. She loved and was well loved by all her family and friends due to her extra caring nature. 

She is survived by her husband of twenty-one years, Cecil Gene Mathews of Overton, two sons, Brandy Ray McCoy of Pittsburgh and Stephen Chadwick Hanson of Wynona; three siblings, Nikki Lynn Dunford of Bullard, Gary Don Dyer of Kilgore, and Melissa Kay Wright of Bullard; four grandchildren, Jayme Faith Marshburn, Felicia Yvonne Cardoso, Sierra Cheyenna McCoy and Jessica Hanson; a great grandchild, Brilynn Antonio Bell;
and several nieces and nephews.

Honorary pallbearers will be Nathan Dyer, Doug Nipp, Shannon Green, Ray Rowe, Timothy Rowe, Chris Moriarty and Ric Mathews.
