Obituary of Alice Young

Mass for Alice Young, 59, Overton, is scheduled for 10:00 am, Wednesday, September 14, at Our Lady Queen of Angels Catholic Church, Overton with Father Jobe Thomas, Father Dan Dower and Father Patrick Fenton officiating.  Graveside Services are scheduled for 5:00 pm, Wednesday, September 14 at the TK Cemetery, Axtell.  Mrs. Young died Friday, September 9, 2011, in Dallas. She was born September 9, 1952, in Anchorage, Alaska to Harold Joseph Schmidt and Dorothy Hackfeld Schmidt.  She married Robert 'Bob' Young, August 12, 1972, in Bellmead.  Mrs. Young attended McLennan Community College and Lamar University. A longtime resident of East Texas, she moved to Overton from Henderson, in 1992. She was a member of the Rusk County Rodeo Association. Mrs. Young was 'Moma Young' of the Kilgore College Ag Club. She was a sleep analyst for East Texas Medical Center, Henderson. Mrs. Young was also a Rotary Paul Harris Fellow. She was a member Our Lady Queen of Angels Catholic Church, Overton where she served on the Financial Committee and was a member of the Event Organization Committee. Mrs. Young was preceded in death by her mother, Dorothy Schmidt. Survivors include her husband, Robert 'Bob' Young, Overton; two daughters and a son-in-law, Christine Young Lott and Jason Lott, Conifer, Colorado and Kara Lena Young, Overton; her father, Harold J. Schmidt, San Antonio; a brother, Andrew Joseph Schmidt, Lynn, Alabama; two nieces and two nephews. Pallbearers will be George Bird, Clinton Netherland, John Henson, Bill Sterling, Barry Jones, Shane West, Ronnie Arceneaux and Larry Beralek. Honorary Pallbearers will be both past and present Kilgore College Agriculture students and Dillon West. Memorials, if desired, may be made to the Rusk County Rodeo Association, P.O. Box 1923, Henderson, TX 75652 or to Our Lady Queen of Angels Catholic Church, 707 Bradford Street Overton, Texas 75684.   Rosary will be recited at 5:30 pm, Tuesday, September 13 at the Cottle-Pearson Funeral Home chapel, Overton.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home following the Rosary from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm, Tuesday, September 13.
