Obituary of Melvin Dwayne Womack
Graveside services for Melvin Dwayne “Buddy” Womack, 80, of Troup, will be held at 2:00 pm, Wednesday, December 6, 2017, at Union Grove Cemetery near Troup with Reverend Jim Norman officiating. Arrangements are under direction of Cottle Funeral Home, Troup.
Buddy passed away Saturday, December 2, 2017. He was born March 28, 1937 in Ponta to the late Walter L. Womack and Anita Johnson Womack. He was very proud of being a deacon at West Duval Baptist Church. His family and his cows were a very important part of his life. He served in the Navy for 8 years and later in life retired from Kelly Springfield Tire Co.
Besides his parents, Buddy was also preceded in death by his wife, Eldonna Womack; his son, Stephen Womack; his daughter, Dee Ann Guthrie; and his son-in-law, Eric Ables
Survivors include his son, Tommy Womack and his wife Becky of Troup; his daughter, Mona Ables of Whitney; sisters, Claudine Stoker of Tyler, and Diane Eaton of Troup; brother and his wife, Wendell and his wife Carla Womack of Lindale; brother-in-law and his wife, Joe and Diana Smith of Lake Striker; special cousin, Juanece Smith and her husband Nolan of Troup; 6 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Alzheimer Alliance of Smith County 211, Winchester Drive, Tyler, TX 75701.
