Obituary of Frankie Sherman

Funeral services for Frankie Baird Sherman of Arp will be at 2:00 pm, Tuesday, December 5, 2017 at Our Lady Queen of Angels Catholic Church in Overton with Father John Robinson Thason officiating. Interment will be in Ebenezer Cemetery, Arp. Arrangements are under direction of Cottle-Pearson Funeral Home, Overton.

Frankie lived an extraordinary 99 years – just two months shy of the century birthday mark. She died at her temporary residence in Tyler on December 2, 2017.

She was born February 7, 1918 in Arp to the late Frank and Hattie Waldron Baird. She married J. R. Sherman March 22, 1941 in Tyler and was a homemaker.  Besides her parents, Mrs. Sherman was preceded in death by her husband, J. R. Sherman and a brother, Billy Baird.

Frankie traveled the world with her beloved late husband, J.R.  Those who met her always remembered her sweet smile and magnetic personality. She was a member of the Arp Sewing Club, the Arp Garden Club and was a lifetime member of the Texas Garden Club. Frankie was a former board member of the Arp Volunteer Fire Department as well as the Arp Chamber of Commerce. She was also a member of Our Lady Queen of Angels Catholic Church in Overton.

She is survived by her son, John Sherman and Pam Wood of Colleyville, two beautiful granddaughters, Lauren Sherman of Los Angeles, California and Megan Sherman of Austin. She was loved by many other family members and friends in Arp and beyond. 

Pallbearers will be Paul Glenn Swinney, Jimmy Barberee, John Bradberry, Ken Gillespie, Mark Hammock and Jason Moore.
