On August 29th, 1958 Karen Elizabeth Holt was born in Tyler to Leo and Freeda Ivy Holt, and walked into the arms of Jesus on Saturday, November 25, 2017. Karen graduated from Whitehouse School, Tyler Junior College, and Stephen F. Austin State University with a Bachelor’s degree with certification in Home Economics. After graduating, she married the love of her life, David Agnew on June 27th, 1980 in Troup at First Baptist Church where she later became a member. Karen then began working as a Teller at Troup Bank and Trust in 1981 and later as Head Teller and Loan Officer at Austin Bank in Troup. In April of 1984, David and Karen welcomed their only child, Ashley into the world. As they both always said, Ashley was their pride and joy and greatest blessing. Karen became actively involved with Troup Cares in 1989. In 1998, she left the banking industry and started working her dream job, a teacher at Troup High School. Karen was an avid Troup Tiger fan and rarely missed a game of any sport. She loved Troup ISD, her coworkers, past and present students, but most of all, Troup Tiger Basketball. She had a multitude of family members, dear friends, and students who will forever cherish her memory.

She was reunited in heaven with her father, Leo Holt; beloved husband, David Agnew; mother-in-law Inell Agnew, and many other family members, friends, and people she loved dearly.

Left to carry on her legacy include her mother, Freeda Holt of Whitehouse; daughter, Ashley and husband Steve Frye; grandchildren, Aubrey Halbert and John David Frye; Godchildren; Colton, Corbin, and Carleigh Whitsell, all of Troup; father-in-law, Bobby Agnew of Whitehouse; niece, Jennifer and husband Robert Stinehour along with their daughter Abby of Marble Falls; nephew, Bobby Joe and wife Melissa Walters and their children Shelby, Cooper and Crosbie of Henderson;

Visitation will be at First Baptist Church in Troup 5pm-7pm on Monday, November 27, 2017.

In memory of Karen, her family asks in lieu of flowers, donations to be made to FBC Troup. Troup VFD, Troup Education Foundation or simply doing something good for someone else.
