Obituary of Jim Mayfield

Celebration of life services for Jim Mayfield, 77, Troup, will be held at 3:00 pm, Sunday, September 24, 2017 at Henry’s Chapel United Methodist Church with Reverend Nathan Briggs officiating. Arrangements are under direction of Cottle Funeral Home, Troup.

Jim Mayfield passed away September 21, 2017 in Henderson, TX. He was born August 18, 1940 in Oklahoma City, OK to the late James Mayfield Sr. and Dora Stroschuneider Mayfield. Jim was a member of Henry’s Chapel United Methodist Church and he was always a happy man. Jim married Janice Scaff May 20, 1978. He loved going to church, his church family, and the choir. Jim enjoyed going fishing and running the country roads. He loved his kids, grandbabies, and family with all his heart.

He is preceded in death by his parents, James and Dora Mayfield.

Survivors include his wife of 39 years, Janice Margaret Mayfield of Troup; children, Bryan Buell and wife, Candace of Troup, Bridget Sifford and husband, Allen of Corpus Christi, TX, Toni Brown of Lake Palestine, Joy Mayfield and husband, John Draper of Paris, TX, Tina Miller and husband, Johnny of Reklaw, and Alicia Mayfield and husband, Calvert of Weatherford, TX; sister, Virginia Jones of Alvin, TX; 18 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren; nephews, Buck Bradford and wife Christine of Alvin, TX and Joseph McQuiston of Troup; niece, Mary Olivar of California; sister-in-law, Ami Davis and husband, Roy of Troup; also, many other relatives and friends.
