Obituary of Ruby Lee Mitchell

Funeral services for Ruby Lee Mitchell, 102, of Whitehouse, will be at 1:00 pm Monday, September 4, 2017 in the Cottle Funeral Home chapel in Troup with Reverend Steven Oakes officiating. Interment will follow at Mason Cemetery in Arp.

Ruby Mitchell went to her home in Heaven on August 30, 2017. She was born in Oklahoma June 3, 1915 and was the oldest of ten children. The family moved to Texas where she met and married Alton Mitchell, and the couple had three children. Ruby worked in the Overton Hospital and at the Sunshine Nursing Home.  She was a loving, caring person, and was truly loved by all her family and friends.

Ruby is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Alton Mitchell, a daughter Ina Ray Lee, and a granddaughter, Ashley Willis.

Survivors include her daughter, Thelma Stanley of Troup; her son, C.L. (Bud) Mitchell of Whitehouse; eight grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren, five great-great grandchildren, a brother in law, and four sisters-in-law; and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons. Honorary pallbearers will be her great grandsons.

The family will receive friends and loved ones at the funeral home, Sunday, September 3, from 4-6pm.
