Obituary of Joe Logan Hamilton

Funeral services for Joe Logan Hamilton, 99, of Troup will be held 10:00 am Saturday, July 22, 2017 at Martin’s Chapel Church of the Nazarene. Reverend Andy Cox and Reverend David Baker will be officiating. Burial will be at Concord Cemetery, under the direction of Cottle Funeral Home, Troup.

Mr. Hamilton passed away Wednesday, July 19, 2017 in Tyler. He was born January 1, 1918 in Troup to the late Joe W. Hamilton and Maude Baty Hamilton. He was a WWII Veteran of the United States Air Force and helped train pilots. He enjoyed fishing, playing dominos, playing games of all kinds, and RVing. He married the love of his life, Lucille Childress on June 26, 1949.

Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Lucille Childress Hamilton of Troup; son, Roger G. Hamilton & wife Sandy of Troup; daughter, Anita G. Waller & husband Rick of Tyler; brother, Junior Hamilton & wife Ann of Troup; sisters, Ruby Kee of Troup, Lillie Mahaffey & husband Dwayne of Henderson and Betty Martin & husband Tim of Troup; two grandchildren, Marc Hamilton and Britney Hamilton; five great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, family, and friends.

Pallbearers will be Marc Hamilton, Jeff Pasley, Tom Osteen, Paul Hamilton, Todd Martin, Kevin Childress, Kyle Childress, and Kolton Beam.

Honorary Pallbearers are Billy Childress, Bobby Childress, and Ronald Childress.

The family will receive friends and loved ones from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, Friday, July 21, 2017 at the Funeral Home, Troup.
