Obituary of Van B. Bateman

Funeral services for Van Buren Bateman, 76, of Arp, will be held 10:00 am Saturday, July 8, 2017 at Cottle Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Doctor Ron Klingsick officiating. 

Van Bateman passed away Wednesday, July 5, 2017 in Whitehouse. He was born August 5, 1940 in Rusk to the late Daniel Van Buren Bateman and Eula Langford Bateman. Van enjoyed spending his time outside with his cattle, running his bull dozer and fishing. He was a Baptist and attended Arp Emmanuel Baptist Church.

Van is preceded in death by his parents, five siblings, and his step-daughter, Laurie Stewart.

Survivors include his wife, Sharene Mitchell Bateman of Arp; daughters, Suni Kay Whittaker & husband Darrell of Troup and Vonda Carol Bateman of Allentown, PA; his step-children, Cindi Forshee of New London and Billy Witherspoon of Arp; brother, Jimmie Bateman of Tyler; sister, Bobby Gage of Van Buren, AR; and many other relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends and loved ones at Cottle Funeral Home Friday, July 7, 2017 from 6-8pm.
