Obituary of Howitt Wesley Jackson
Funeral services for Howitt Wesley Jackson, 93, of Joinerville, will be at 11:00 am, Monday, July 3, 2017 in the Cottle-Pearson Funeral Home Chapel, Overton, with Reverends Rohn Boone and Richard Boone officiating. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery, near New London.
Mr. Jackson died Friday, June 30, 2017 in Henderson. He was born October 24, 1923 in Kerens, to the late John Wesley and Eda Mae Cook Jackson. He serviced in the US Merchants Marines during WWII and married Jimmie Lou Mitchell December 28, 1957 in Turnertown. He moved to East Texas in 1948 from Anderson County and was a automobile mechanic for Cone Car Dealership and later Bartley Automotive, both in Overton. He was owner and operator of Jack’s Auto Service in Turnertown. He was a member of the Odd Fellows and he loved reading, fishing and traveling.
Besides his parents, Mr. Howitt was also preceded in death by a grandson, John Wesley Sanders and a brother, Dalton Jackson.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Jimmie Jackson of Joinerville; three sons, Keith Jackson of Jourdonton, Gary Mark and Tamera Jackson of Langville, and Richard Bryan Jackson of Joinerville; a daughter, Joyce Erliane Jackson of Joinerville; a daughter-in-law, Sharon Frasier of Henderson; five grandchildren, Bryan Jackson, Daniel Jackson, Twila Sanders, Jade Jackson and Faith Sanders; several nieces and nephews including Teresa Gist.
