Obituary of Clarence Leroy Beekman, Jr.

   Funeral services for Clarence Leroy Beekman, Jr., 89, of Overton will be 2:00pm, Friday, June 23, 2017 at First Baptist Church, Overton with Dr. Charles Paschall officiating. Burial will be in the Overton City Cemetery.

   Mr. Beekman died Sunday, June 18, 2017 in Longview. He was born June 10, 1928, to the late Clarence Leroy Beekman, Sr. and Adzel Johnson Beekman. He is a veteran of the U.S. Army and attended Kilgore College. He married Ethel Ree Odom on June 17, 1950 in Overton and was a member of the Rocky Mount Masonic Lodge #63. He was a bookkeeper for Insurance One, Overton, for 45 years and a member of the Overton First Baptist Church where he served as deacon.

   Clarence enjoyed fishing and hunting as well as collecting guns.

   Besides his parents, Mr. Beekman was also preceded in death by three sisters and two brothers.

   Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Ethel Beekman of Overton; a son, Marlin Beekman of Overton; a daughter and son-in-law, Andrea and Joshua Shuck of Overton; two grandchildren, Jonathan Franklin and William Franklin; three great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

   Pallbearers will be William Franklin, Jonathan Franklin, Joshua Shuck, Gregg Deaton, and Charles Franklin.

   The family will receive friends at Cottle-Pearson Funeral Home Thursday, June 22, 2017 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm.
