Mrs. Barnett was born June 10, 1922 in Murchison, Texas, to the late Milton and Bertie Dodson Lewis. After graduating from Athens High School, she moved to Dallas to work as a "Rosie the Riveter" repairing planes during World War II. In 1948 she moved to Arp where she owned Mary's Antiques for over 40 years. She enjoyed visiting with her customers and loved the "thrill of the hunt" involved in finding antiques.

Mrs. Barnett, a dedicated Christian, was a former member of the Arp Assembly of God Church and was the first woman selected as a trustee for the church. Her service to God was demonstrated in countless ways and to many people. She was a lifelong learner of the Bible and enjoyed sharing her faith and wisdom with others. After her second marriage she and her husband became members of Shiloh Road Church of Christ and enjoyed the fellowship and travels with the Prime Timers.

Besides her parents, Mrs. Barnett was also preceded in death by two husbands, John Mark Allen, Sr. and James E. Barnett; one son, John Mark Allen, Jr.; two brothers, Bertis Lewis and Colin Lewis; and one sister, Eva Jack Lewis Thurman.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Jackie Lynn and Eddie Lynn Calicutt of Arp; her grandchildren, Amy Lynn Allen Chaudhari of Austin, Lee Ann Calicutt Knox and her husband Jeff of Austin, Mark Edward Calicutt and his wife Erin of Troup, and Justin Lee Allen and his wife Jessica of Dallas. Her great grandchildren; Aubrey Lynn Knox, Connor Lee Allen, and John Wallace Knox.

Her family is grateful to the staff and caregivers of the Hamptons as well as the team from Hospice of East Texas for the care of their loved one.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Hospice of East Texas, 4111 University Blvd., Tyler, TX., 75701 or charity of choice.
