Obituary of James Lee Reynolds
Funeral services for James Lee Reynolds, 89, of the Omen Community near Arp will be at 10:00 am, Thursday, April 13, in the Omen First Baptist Church with Reverend Scotty Short officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in Elkins Cemetery, Omen. Arrangements are under direction of Cottle-Pearson Funeral Home, Overton.
Mr. Reynolds passed away, Monday, April 10, 2017 in Tyler. He was born October 6, 1927 in Pecan Gap to the late Francis Dee and Martha Bell Johnson Reynolds. He is a veteran of the US Army and served during WWII. He worked for Borden Milk Company as a milkman and retired after 42 years. He married Mary Jo Lake September 14, 2002 in Omen and he loved gardening and old antique cars. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Omen where he was Sr. Deacon and was highly respected in his community.
Besides his parents, Mr. Reynolds was also preceded in death by his first wife, Nira Mae Reynolds, a daughter, Rebecca Lynn Dark, two great grand babies, a brother, Dale Reynolds, and a sister, Billie Jean Smith.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Reynolds of Omen; two sons and daughters-in-law, James Reynolds, Jr. and Janette Rivers Reynolds of Ft. Worth, and Gary and Sandra Reynolds of Omen; a daughter and son-in-law, Terri and Jon Taylor of Arp; three step-children and their spouses, Deborah and Bill Brasher of Arp, James Leslie and Carrie Lake of Winona, and Gary and Debbie Lake of New London; a brother and sister-in-law, Bobbie Ray and Marjuel Reynolds of Rockwall; a sister, Tommie Roberts of Lubbock; twelve grandchildren, Clint Dark, Scott Dark, Andy Reynolds, Tiffany Ellis, Jon Harden Taylor, Matt Reynolds, Michelle Worbington, Aaron Reynolds, Jacob Reynolds, Michelle Deleshaw, Christopher Reid, and Gabriel Reynolds; six step grandchildren, Dena Smith, Rhonda McLouth, Raejean Griffin, Justin Lake, Jerod Lake, and Jennifer Lake; numerous great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and a host of cousins and friends.
Pallbearers will be Clint Dark, Scott Dark, Jon Harden Taylor, Matt Reynolds, Andy Reynolds, Jacob Reynolds, Aaron Reynolds, and Gabriel Reynolds. Honorary pallbearers will be Charlie Bell, Bill Logan, Don Bass, Rex Bass, Leslie Lake, Gary Lake, Jon Taylor, and the men of the First Baptist Church of Omen Sunday School Class.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home, Wednesday, April 12, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, at the funeral home.
