Obituary of Peggy June Martin
Services for Peggy June Martin, 85, New London, are scheduled for 10:00 am, Wednesday, April 12 at the Cottle-Pearson Funeral Home Chapel, Overton, with Reverends Brian Williams and Rodney McDuff officiating. Burial will be in the Mason Cemetery, Arp.
Mrs. Martin passed away Sunday, April 9, 2017, in Overton. She was born September 25, 1931 in Asher, Oklahoma to the late Homer P. and Stella Mae Arber. She married Boyce Dean Martin December 8, 1949 in Electra and moved to Overton from Seymour in 1983. She operated Bill’s Dollar Store in Seymour and worked for many years at Louis Morgan Drug in Overton. She was a homemaker and a member of the Arp Assembly of God Church.
Peggy was a guardian angel to her brother and sister and an avid and proud grandmother and a marvelous mother and grandmother-in-law. She was very sacrificial for her family and in her service to the Lord.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Boyce Dean Martin, a daughter, Lanita Cheryl Martin McDuff and two great grandchildren.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Darrel and Barbara Martin, New London; a son-in-law, Mike McDuff, Waco; a brother, Donald Arber, Arp; a sister, Wanda Hodges, New London; six grandchildren, Jeremy Martin, Charlotte Dameron, Cheryl Caraway, Cynthia Brown, Melissa Thrift and Rodney McDuff; 16 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
Pallbearers will be Mike McDuff, Jeremy Martin, Glen Dowdy, Beau Dameron, Darrin Caraway, Merritt James Arber and Nicholas Brown.
Honorary pallbearer will be Homer Bundrick.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7:00 pm until 9:00 pm, Tuesday, April 11.
